World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51 million watchers across the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this marks the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match series drew 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total US average was over 16 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff performance since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various tongues.
