The Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their first World Series following the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series triumph in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."

The veteran has now hit 23 playoff homers, making him third in history trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation other than George Springer with his October magic," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts this season.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
